Importance of Internet for High Class Escort Business. |

It's caracteristic for the escort concept that the act takes place at the customer's residence or hotel room - referred to as outcall - or at the escort's residence, which is then referred to as incall. The escort may be an independent service provider or working under the auspices of an escort agency. Today, in the age of computers, smartphones and instant access to information, services are almost always advertised over the Internet and indeed the communicaton between seller and buyer is often also Internet based e-mail being the preferred method, although many service providers still rely on voice calls; especially regarding apointments with short notice. Use of the Internet by high class escorts is today almost universal. There is an entire promotional industry supporting the high class escorts in reaching their potential clients. The large Internet search engines, like Yahoo, Google or Bing of course play a role as the primary layer directing and feeding escort clients to the millions of escort related websites. The next layer is the escort directories and so-called review boards. An escort directory is itself an Internet search engine, though smaller and entirely specialized on the escort industry. The review boards function the same as the directories with the added feature, that users can contribute reviews about the high class escorts listed on the board. The many online dating services, although not really a part of the promotional infratructure, are often also used by escorts to contact potential clients. Promoting high class escort services through dating websites is often more discreet, in the sense that many things are taken for granted and not specifically mentioned. This is of course due to the fact that many dating platform in general have a negative view of the escort promoting side of their business. The next and final layer in the promotional pyramid consist of the myriads of escort agencies' and independent high class escorts' websites. This is were the clients usually ends up and this is the starting point for direct communication between the client and the independent escort or the mediating agency. These websites, whether promoting just a single independent escort or multiple escort girls under the umbrella of a mediating agency all contains more or less the same types of information. Appealing pictures and biographies for the escort girls, prices and booking instruction as well as the all important contact information. The importance of the Internet for the escorting business cannot be underestimated. If the Internet one day crashes, so does the escort business… at least in the short term. Before access to Internet was universally available it was common that service providers paid commission to limo- and taxi-drivers for referring clients to them. It was also common to produce business cards and small flyers, with pictures and contact information. These would then by sent in circulation in different ways. Discreetly placed on the men's toilets in restaurants and bars, available from taxidrivers, availbe at hotel receptions or placed in phonebooths or similar, often without the consent of the bar-, restaurant- or hotelmanagement. |
Anyway, these time- and money-consuming pratises are all disappearing now and the sole reason is the success of the Internet as a uniquely accesible marketplace. This is not to say that promotional efforts on the Internet doesn't require time and money; it certainly does and as with all other marketing activities each service provider - that is the individual escort - have the choice of trading money for time and sometime time for money. Escorts who decide to let an agency provide the clients and arrange all encounters with clients clearly pay the highest price but on the other hand don't spend any of their time on promotional activities. Many high class escorts however prefer a higher degree of independence and therefore choose to let one or more advertising agencies do the main promotional effort. This will obviously cost some money in the way of fees to the advertising agency and the high class escort would still need to do some work herself, primarily the direct communication with potential clients. However, the trade off of less promotional expenses for more time invested pays off handsomely for many high class escorts. The less succesful or less serious escorts however often risk to pay more or less all their income as fees if they are not careful who they cooperate with. Getting enough promotional value for the invested money is critical for the independent high class escort. The last option available for a high class escort is to do all the promotional work herself, relying mostly on invested time and to a lesser degree money. In theory it is possible to promote an escort service without investing any money, but in practical terms it is almost impossible to succeed without at least some advertising expenses. Anyway, a high class escort who decides to do all promotional work herself will have to invest a lot of time in it, but will furthermore need a lot of knowledge. She must know how to design and maintain a professional and appealing website, know where to place cost-effective ads and indeed also know how to make her website visible to search engines. Thus it is far from all independent high class escorts who possess the multi-facetted knowledge to succeed relying only on her own time and effort in the promotion of her escort business. To say that the Internet as a marketplace is a jungle with countless pitfalls for the newcomer to the escort business is no exaggeration. For the escort buyer the Internet provides a convenient, easy and instant way to find whatever is wanted, but for the independent escort provider things are more complicated. This is not to say the Internet is not a huge advantage also for the high class escort providers, it certainly is, because it allows the independent escort to reach a much larger audience much faster than in the era before the Internet. It is to be expected that the escort supporting Internet industry will continue to develop and eventually also attain the same levels of professionalism as most other promotional industries.
